Storage instructions and shelf life
These biodegradable refuse sacks should be stored in their original packaging in a cool, dark place, to maximise their shelf-life (12 months from date of manufacture).
Exposure to sunlight or heat for a prolonged period of time risks triggering the bio-additive that is designed to acclerate the breakdown, thus reducing their shelf life.
How to dispose of biodegradable waste sacks
- Composting - Do not dispose of this waste sack in your food waste collection, as it is not suitable for industrial composting. It may be suitable for home composting if the conditions are suitable - presence of oxygen, heat, light, mechanical stress and microorganisms - but this process can take several years. Instead, please see our range of compostable waste bags which meet composting standard EN13432.
- Recycling - This waste sack is suitable for recycling, provided it is free of contents, clean, and has not yet started to degrade.
- General waste - This refuse sack can be thrown in your regular waste collection, along with its contents, as a last resort option. It will break down in landfill much quicker than traditional polythene bin bags.
