Important notice: Sealing this compostable mailing bag

This mailing bag's sealing strip is only semi-permanent on initial contact sealing, due to the compostable nature of the product. For a permanent seal, please leave the sealed bag at room temperature for several hours before posting.

C4 compostable clear mailing bag features

• Eco-friendly clear mailing bag that can be disposed of with food waste after use.
• Medium (C4 size) mailing bag - perfect for sending contents up to A4 size via mail or courier.
• Clear compostable material has a slightly frosted appearance compared to traditional polythene.
• Minimum 30% renewable content.
• Fully biodegradable and compostable.
• Disintegrates in 12 weeks and biodegrades (into CO2, water and biomass) in six months in industrial composting, as per EN13432 standard (see below).
• Also suitable for domestic composting, but this process will take much longer (timescale varies according to conditions).
• Envelope flap features printed sender address box, safety warning notice, disposal instructions and 'COMPOSTABLE' leaf motif.

EN13432 standard for compostable packaging - criteria

This product is designed to biodegrade in industrial composting conditions in line with European packaging standard EN13432, which tests packaging against the following criteria:

• Disintegration - After 12 weeks of composting, a minimum of 90% of material will have broken down into pieces smaller than 2mm x 2mm.
• Biodegradation - After six months of composting, a minimum of 90% of material will have biodegraded into carbon dioxide (CO2), water and biomass.
• Toxic elements - Must meet strict limits for fluoride and 10 heavy metals, including zinc, lead and mercury.
• Composting process - there must be no negative effects on this process.
• Compost quality - the final compost must not be negatively affected by the compostable material.

How to store clear compostable mailing bags

To maintain the quality of these compostable mailing bags, store them in a cool, dry place in their original packaging. Keep away from direct sunlight and sources of heat, humidity or moisture and use within 12 months.

How to dispose of clear compostable mailing bags

After use, please dispose of these bags in your food waste bin, as they are designed for industrial composting (see EN13432, above). They can also be composted at home, but this process will take much longer.

If you are unable to dispose of these bags in a composting environment, please place in your regular domestic waste, as they are not suitable for polythene recycling.
