Medium compostable packing bag (40 micron) features

Clear 40 micron thick bag - twice the thickness of traditional compostable bags.
Our clear compostable material has a frosted appearance when compared to traditional clear polythene.
Made from a compostable polymer blend with a minimum renewable content share of 30%.
Conforms to European compostable standard EN13432.
Disintegrates in industrial composting units within 12 weeks and biodegrades (into CO2, water and biomass) within six months.
Suitable for home composting, although this process will take longer.
Food-safe material.
Features printed leaf logo and messages: 'COMPOSTABLE for a better world...' & 'MATERIAL CONFORMS TO EN13432'.
Heat-sealable with a standard heat sealer.

EN13432 - the compostable standard

This bag meets strict criteria for compostable packaging, as defined by standard EN13432 (industrial composting). These include:

Disintegration - after 3 months, a maximum of 10% of material may remain when sifted through a 2mm sieve.
Biodegradability - 90% of material must biodegrade within 6 months.
Practical compostability - there must be no negative effects on the composting process.
Chemicals - all constituent elements must be disclosed and threshold tests for heavy metals must be adhered to.
Ecotoxicity - the resultant compost must not negatively affect plant growth.

Storing compostable packing bags

These bags should be stored in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat/humidity. Use within 12 months.

Compostable packing bags - end of life options

After use, please dispose of this compostable packaging in your food waste bin (where it will be sent for industrial composting) or a home composting unit. If composting is not possible, please place in your regular domestic waste. Not suitable for polythene recycling.
