Compostability standard EN13432
This bag is compostable, in accordance with European standard EN13432:
- Its material must disintegrate into tiny pieces, 90% of which can pass through a 2x2mm mesh, after 12 weeks.
- 90% or more must biodegrade into CO2, water and biomass within six months.
- The material must not adversely affect the quality of any compost to which it is added, whilst it must also conform to limits for volatile matter, fluorine and 10 heavy metals.
Compostable header bags - storage information
To preserve the quality of these compostable header bags, they should be stored in their original wrapping, in a cool, dry place. Please keep the bags away from any local heat source or direct sunlight, and use them within 12 months.
Compostable packaging disposal options
After use, please dispose of these bags in your food waste bin, if available (check local recycling options), as they will biodegrade in industrial composting units in 12 weeks, as per EN13432 (see above). They are also suitable for home composting, although this will most likely take longer than 12 weeks (timescales will vary depending on disposal conditions).
