EN13432 - the compostability standard
This bag is fully compostable in accordance with the EN13432 industral composting standard:
- Material must break down into small pieces - at least 90% of which must pass through a 2x2mm mesh after 12 weeks
- At least 90% of material must break down into CO2, water and biomass within six months
- Material must come under safe limits for volatile matter, fluorine and 10 heavy metals, including zinc, lead and mercury
- Eco-toxicity tests must find that the packaging does not affect the quality of compost to which it is added
How to store compostable bags - important info
To maintain product quality, we recommend these bags are stored in a cool, dry place in their original packaging, away from sources of heat or direct sunlight. Use within 12 months.
How should I dispose of this compostable bag?
Please place this product in your organic waste collection or food waste bin, if available (check locally for recycling options), as it is designed to biodegrade in industrial composting conditions within 12 weeks, as per EN13432 (see above). It is also suitable for home composting, though timescales will vary and will likely take longer than 12 weeks.
