Please note: sealing compostable mailing bags

When you first seal a compostable mailing bag, the seal is only semi-permanent, due to the compostable properties of the material. We recommend leaving the bag at room temperature for several hours before posting, for a more permanent seal.

• C4 size mailing bag - ideal for A4 size contents.

• Printed leaf logo and the message: 'Compostable - For a better world...' reinforces those credentials.
• Disposal instructions, safety warning notice and sender address box all printed on the envelope's fold-down flap.
• Compostable product that meets European standard EN13432 (see below).
• Can be disposed of in your food-waste - will disintegrate within 12 weeks and biodegrade within six months in industrial composting.
• Also suitable for domestic composting, but this process will take longer (time varies according to disposal conditions).
• Minimum renewable content share of 30%.

EN13432 and compostable packaging

This compostable mailing bag conforms to EN13432 - the European standard for industrial composting. This requires:

• After 12 weeks, the bag will decompose into pieces so small that at least 90% of it can pass through a 2x2mm mesh
• After six months, a minimum of 90% of the material will biodegrade into carbon dioxide (CO2), water and minerals
• The material does not exceed strict limits for volatile matter, fluorine and 10 heavy metals, including lead, mercury and zinc
• The material passes ecotoxicity tests and does not adversely affect compost quality when added

Compostable mailers - how to store

To maximise the shelf life of these compostable mailing bags, please store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight, heat sources and humidity. Use within 12 months.

How do I best dispose of compostable packaging?

After use, please dispose of this bag in your food waste bin for collection or a domestic compost heap. If neither is possible, place in the regular domestic waste. Not suitable for recycling.
