This wheelie bin liner conforms to testing criteria for standard EN13432 (industrial composting). These include:
- Disintegration - after 12 weeks, at least 90% of the composted material must be small enough to pass through a 2mm x 2mm mesh
- Biodegradation - after six months, at least 90% of the material must have broken down into natural elements (CO2, water and biomass)
- Toxicity - the material must pass strict toxicity tests for zinc, copper, fluoride and other toxic elements
- Compost quality - the material must not negatively affect the quality of any compost to which it is added
Green compostable wheelie bin liner - strorage instructions
These green compostable wheelie bin liners should be stored in their original packaging, in a cool, dark place, and used within 12 months. Keep away from direct sources or heat, moisture and sunlight.
Green compostable wheelie bin liner - disposal options
These wheelie bin liners are designed to line a standard wheelie bin used for food or organic waste collection. They will biodegrade rapidly in industrial composting conditions (as per EN13432), so please leave them in your bin for collection along with their contents.
The bags are also suitable for home composting, although this process will take much longer (does not meet EN13432 timescales). Of course, most home composters will not be big enough to fit a full wheelie bin liner!
These bags are not suitable for recycling. If composting is not an available option, please throw these bags in your regular domestic waste.
